I can remember as a young girl getting all my sisters together to take pictures like we were professional photographers. We dressed in like outfits, posed for the camera and expected results (at least I did!). Those were the days before digital cameras and you never knew what you were going to get. Let’s just say, the pictures never turned out as good as I was hoping!
Photography has always interested me, I just never really pursued it… until this past year. The Christmas just before we moved to London Josh’s mom got us a SLR (single-lens reflex) camera. I am not really sure what that means, except that it’s fancy and has a lot of different knobs and buttons! For months I shot the camera on auto mood, which I am pretty sure defeats the purpose of having a fancy camera, although I have to say it takes pretty good pictures in auto!
Last November my sister e-mailed me about a photography bootcamp Groupon offer in Chicago. It worked out perfect because we were able to take the class when I was home for Thanksgiving. We had a blast, and I learned awesome things about how to use my camera!
I know about ISO, aperture and shutter speed but I am by no means a professional. Since I’ve learned how to shoot the camera in manual modes, it’s been fun experiments with pictures. Recently I took another beginner photography class in London. It was great review and I learned lots of new info too!
Here’s some of my favorite shots!
